Running in Uruguay

There are a lot of running and endurance events in Uruguay.  One is an annual 7k run in Montevideo sponsored by the bank, BBVA. It starts and finishes on the rambla (seaside road and walk) in the Montevideo community of Punta Carretas. This year more than 2,000 runners participated.

  • This link goes to the website of the Montevideo running club, Trotamundos (Globetrotters). Their event calendar includes races and triathlons in Uruguay as well as Argentina, Brazil, and Chile. If you want to make friends and combine running with traveling in South America, this might be a good place to start. http://www.trotamundos.com.uy/calendario.asp

It took almost four minutes for all of the 2,000 runners to cross the starting line at this year's BBVA 7k race.
