Punta del Este - Monthly
Punta Expats meet on the third Monday of the month at 11:00 a.m. The meeting location changes to different restaurants or coffee-shops in Punta del Este. People have a cup of coffee or a late breakfast, many stay for lunch. (Attendees must order something to make it beneficial for hosting venue owners.) The meetings are an informal place to chat, exchange information, and make new friends. There is also an informal book exchange. Sunday Expat Meeting
Montevideo – Every Sunday
The Sunday Expat Meeting is held at 12:00 (noon) at Fellini Ristobarreto is located in the Montevideo neighborhood of Pocitos at the corner of Jose Marti and Benito Blanco. No reservations are required, and each person is billed individually for their own food.
This is an informal gathering for English speakers to meet, trade notes, and exchange ideas. There is no sales pitch or business objective. The meeting is open to everyone including visitors and English speaking Uruguayans. This meeting has been put on every Sunday like clockwork by Glen of the website "TotalUruguay.com" since the first gathering on November 20, 2005. For more info. and a map

The British Society of Uruguay
The British Society of Uruguay was founded in 1918. It is an organization that drives purposeful missions as well as organizes social events that include an annual golf tournament. From The British Society came the British Hospital and the Anglo-Uruguayan Cultural Institute (known as the Anglo).
The Anglo, which has built up to 50 branches in Uruguay, turned 75 years old in 2009. The Anglo operates language schools that teach the English language to Uruguayans, conducts English language testing, and has a resident theatre company, called Theatre of the Anglo. It also has two full curriculum schools.
The British Society is an English-speaking group to consider once you have decided to put roots down in Uruguay. To join one must be sponsored by an existing member and pay a 1,000 peso membership fee.
